I must say congratulations to autodesk for the conditional suppression of features in a part, but i am (and a few other people i know) feeling rather disgruntled that this suppression/exclusion cannot be utilised at the assembly level on parts or constraints. but it doesn't it leaves 1 part there (and it shows in the BOM too). One would also think that if you had a pattern of parts and you set the count number to zero, that this would effectively do what i want. The other downer of this approach is that it leaves the parts in the BOM (which if its not in the assy, i don't want it in the BOM). ie if the rod falls below a set value, you then set the features of the other parts to suppress, effectively self destructing those parts (no good if those parts are used elsewhere) and it leaves a mess of sick constraints (which cannot be conditionally removed/altered).

The only way that i have found to do anything remotely similar to this is to use conditional suppression of features at the part level. If the length of the rod falls below a certain value (the condition) then it excludes all or some of the parts or constraints attached.

for example say we have a length of bar/rod and a series (or pattern) of components constrained to that object. Enhanced Component Functionality InstallBuilder provides support for downloadable components and component groups, including support for subcomponents. What i am trying to achieve is have a parameter control weather or not a part is included/excluded. If i can i'd rather not use iAssemblies in this case. However, as i understand it, this inclusion/exclusion of parts is done manually in the table. This means that elements of the application that are not always used can be made downloadable to decrease an installer's size.

I understand that you can use iAssemblies to exclude parts and constraints according to the table and member selected. Downloadable Components InstallBuilder provides the ability to configure some or all of the available components to be separate, downloadable content instead of being embedded in the installer. Has anyone found a way to conditionally include or exclude a part, sub-assembly, or constraint from an assembly depending on values of parameters?
